Title: Spike 2010 Pre-Registration
Post by: General Jason on June 04, 2010, 10:59:13 AM
Hey guys,

The Spike! 2010 website is now up and running and we have now started our pre-registration process: http://www.spiketournament.com/

We would like a pre-reg budget for all the things that we need to pay for now and up until the event itself, but this is secondary. What is primary is that now that the pre-reg page is open I would like to see as many Thunderbowlers that KNOW that they are planning to attend the Spike! to sign up on the site.

Again we would like pre-reg cash, but this isn't as paramount as confirmed players and teams - and team choices can always be changed via Poundfist afterwards if you end up playtesting your roster in the next 3 months and decide to change it. But I look at a pre-reg page the same as I look at a line-up outside a bar - the more people in the line the more likely it is that others who are on the fence about going will end up signing up due to the large numbers that have signed up already.

I'll be updating the Spike! 2010 threads on TFF, NAF, VG and VGG to reflect this. Once we get a poster/flyer Simon will be hitting the local Gaming Stores and local GWs, and hopefully we can get one of our yankie brothers to do the same.

But we have 3 months now - more than enough time and the textbook amount of time to start advertising hard to fill the joint so please if you know you are going sign up now.

Cheers,
Gj.

Hook me up with posters, I'll cover the Bellingham/Mt. Vernon/Seattle area game stores with them.  I make the drive along I-5 every other weekend anyway.

::edit:: Pre Reg'd.

Awesome. Thanks Andy.

Mike has to update the site to include the new sign-ups beyond #3, but so far we have:

01. Tyler Reeves: Location: Surrey BC Team Name: Candy Balloon Fairies Team Race: Chaos Pact
02. Murray Campbell: Location: North Vancouver BC Team Name: Edge of Darkness Team Race: Dark Elf
03. Jason Woodall: Location: Vancouver BC Team Name: Noxious Team Race: Skaven
04. Andy Brandt: Location: Edmonds WA Team Name: Dread Team Race: Dark Elf
05. Kristian Hargreaves: Location: Port Moody BC Team Name: Frengard Foxes Team Race: Humans
06. Simon Thomsen: Location: Surrey BC Team Name: Leap Frog Team Race: Slann
07. Bob Wolf: Location: Stanwood WA Team Name: Bring Out Your Dead Team Race: Undead
08. Craig McAree Location: New Westminster BC Team Name: Keekos Poundposse Team Race: Goblins

But I know that there are loads of people that are planning to attend that have not gone to http://www.spiketournament.com/ and entered a team yet. Again guys we can change this as we go, but if you KNOW that you are planning on attending please sign up asap. We want a show of power on our sign up list so the out-of-towners see a large event and are more likely to make the trip out. We are going to try and push the Spike hard for the next 3 months and a strong sign-up is the greatest asset that we can advertise.

Thanks guys,
Gj.

09. Geoff Roscoe: Location: Surrey BC Canada Team Name: Look-at-em-run Team Race: Lizardman
10. Jon Dawes: Location: Vancouver BC Canada Team Name: The Minutemen Team Race: Halflings

12. Kavinay Kishor: Location: Surrey BC Team Name: Ratchester United Team Race: Skaven

4 more over the weekend:

15. Lee Eisner: Location: New Westminster BC Team Name: Iron Maidens Team Race: Amazons
16. Tony Hogan: Location: New Westminster BC Team Name: Mostly Dead Team Race: Undead
17. Steve Lemky: Location: Delta BC Team Name: Dogs or Dags Team Race: Norse
18. Rob Gordon Location: Maple Ridge BC Team Name: House Bunnies Team Race: Amazons

The more we obtain from our own membership the more out-of-towners and out-of-clubers we are likely to gain. Again if you know you are planning on playing that weekend please sign up now guys. 18 pre-regd so far so let's keep it coming guys!!! Zlurpeebowl just broke 60 coaches as this was the largest BB tournament in North America. Thunderbowl is more than capable of smashing this so please sign up now.

Cheers,
Gj.

2 more coaches over the last week bringing us up to 20 pre-reg!!!

19. Darryl Powell Location: Port Moody BC Team Name: Da Breakneck BoyZ Team Race: Orcs
20. Geoff Rickard Location: Maple Ridge BC Team Name: The East Hasting Trannys Team Race: Amazons

And if we were any other club I'd say that this is great, but we are not any other club. 20 coaches out of 47 available is completely beneath us and we all know that. I've already spoken to a number of you who are planning to attend but have yet to pre-reg so if you can please take the time to put your name up on the site PLEASE do so.

I'll be doing an interview on the podcast program Three Dice Block promoting the Spike! Magazine coming this Thursday - that's right 4 days from now. The bigger number of pre-reg'd players we have on the site prior to that conversation the better.

Thanks guys,
Gj.

30 players pre-reg'd so far and we still have participants from Edmonton (3+) and Oregon (2+) coming that have yet to register. 40+ players at least so this will be the largest Canadian BB tournament ever and certainly the largest tournament we have ever hosted. Let us know if you are still on the fence by pre-reging prior to Labour Day Monday via this link:

Hope to see you out. Go Gobs!

Cheers,
Gj.

I just registered as an elf team called the fruity pebbles not sure if that is what I will play for sure but figured I might as well get in there. Also I don't remember my NAF number or name so I just put something in there.

Thanks a lot Paul. Sorry for riding you.  ;)

Thanks Mike. All we need is the user name, which is 'aberrant' so you are all set up. No matter what you play your team is certainly going to fair better than my 'Poundposse'.  ;)

Thanks a lot Paul. Sorry for riding you.  ;)

What's worse then just reminding me that I forgot to sign up is that this whole thing has caused me to put PAINT on my MODELS.  I haven't done that since... The last Spike!.

This is bad.  How am I going to keep my reputation as someone who is too lazy to paint?  I cannot believe this.  This is madness. :(

Lame-o.  ;) That stinks but what do you do - work is work.

We gained another Lizardmen team and another guy from Oregon tonight so we are still at 41 pre-registered coaches. 10 more sleeps!
