Well, the good news is that most of us who have the video game would like to play online. The bad news is that the video game's league system is a bloody mess for handling league management.
So, heres what we know so far:
- The league must be no more and no less than a preset number of coaches. We can't bump the number up or down once it is created by the owner.
- Coaches can only be accepted during the preseason.
- Matches are only arranged on a fixed schedule and not as open play.
- Teams are assigned to divisions randomly
Put it all together and we have a system that makes it really hard to play games quickly until Cyanide patch in the fixes/improvements for league options they've promised.
So, all that being against us, how would you like to see our online league being run? I was hoping to just get something off the ground and the low cap of 8 coaches got us going but now we have atleast 3 coaches out of luck. So please let's start a discussion on this page or in the new Video Game forum to figure out how we can make online play more easy to arrange.
Punkpogoer and I were talking abou this and it seems at the moment that a reasonable amount of time to wait for a match to be played in the current system is 2 weeks. Much like Thunderbowl itself, this puts us at 2 games a month. I was hoping for roughly 1 game a week. What do you think is reasonable?
Maybe we can create multiple connected leagues to accomodate all of us and our frequency of play?
Let's get this figured out because playing against the AI is making me feel stupider every day--just how many times can you see a longbeard (with Kick-off return) fail a dodge into two tackle zones?
