Dwarf Trauma

Well I played my first two matches of the season and learned even though my dice luck has improved it seems it won't matter too much. My first match was against an Orc team Prognosis Negative and it went about as well as playing Norse against Orcs. By the end of the game the coach had inflicted 5 casualties including 2 deaths. I lost a Linedwarf and a Blitzer. Now this is the worst set back I have ever experienced starting a new team in a league setting. My worst set back being losing my entire human team to injury in preseason play and having to restart. I did not buy a Apothecary because I figured my AV 9 would give me more milage before injuries happend. I figured the worst would be a serious injury. While I rolled rather well for hitting I never got above a KO on the Injury table. I was dumb struck at the loses. Prognosis Negative ended up winning the game at 3 to 1; I also roled crap for winnings receiving only 20K.

My second match was against Grudge Match, an Underworld team. I was so thankful for this match-up after my loses. I figured that even if the underworld team managed to score some TD's I would make up for by putting the hurt on some goblins. As I have played an Underworld team before I knew what they were capable of. My defensive set up went well I think it was my dice rolling that let me down and ended up in a 1 nothing game after a few turns. Shortly after that I managed to pound the Goblins and some Skaven off the pitch and score some TD's. It turned out to be a good game for me making up for the horrible game 1 and I aquired 70K in money. A journeyman Linedwarf managed a casualty so I bought him instead of a Blitzer leaving me with 20K and I hope to earn enough for a Apothecary next match or if I can get lucky a Blitzer.

Endycarus , coach of Grudge Match, took his loss with grace. Had it been me I would have been visably sore but still managing a thankyou for the game. Then I would go off and brood like a teenaged vampire. I hate it when the bad luck comes down hard but sometimes that is just material for good gaming stories. I like Bloodbowl even though I lose about 60% of my games and I will continue to like it for a long time. Its fun even when it hurts.

Season 22 Nightsiders Match-ups

I've looked at my opponents for Season 22 and I feel a bit out classed. I'm playing Underworld and the word squishy is beginning to make me fearful.

First up is Norse with Tyler. I've played Tyler once and I learned alot about how to play and all about stalling. The Norse are nice and bashy I played them at Thunderkrunch with little success though i have my own dice luck to blame for that. I expect at least 3 casualties. The only things that may save me are the Stunty and Dodge. I've got to work those to make a win the slightly faster skaven should get me some TDs. I'm not a great player as of yet so I hope to win and I'm not counting on it.

First Match Report: If 1's and 2's were the coin of the world I would be a wealthy man.  About 65% to 70% of my rolls were bad resulting in Turn Overs or bad plays. I got so desperated that I tried braking cages with goblins... note I will try that later when they have some skill but to start off with it was suicide. I managed to Kill a player with the Troll and throw a teammate into position to score. It was great though it didn't make up for the laws of probability leaving me at the alter. Tyler played a great match, didn't stall to long and deserved to win.

Second is Lizardmen. I've wanted to play this team for a while not really looking forward to playing against it. Skink speed and Saurus strength will be punishing vs the gobos. I'm looking to tie this one.

Second Match Report: This one a was dreading after my first game. In the end it turned out to be ok. Sure I took 5 casualties and two of those were deaths but I did get some skills and I did win which was not expected. I have to say the Liccalottapusses are going to be pretty nasty once they start getting some skills on them. I had a 2 goal lead on them in the early part of the second half but sortly there after I didn't have too much team to play with.

Third is Woodelves... need I say more. I'm going to try and put the hurt on the WD or another skilled player. Hoping for no Treeman.

Fourth is Pro Elves. Less scary than the Woodies but I feel they will have a a bunch of TDs. No Big Guy is a plus! I hope to still have mine by this time. I've never played Mike so I'm looking forward to this game.

Fifth is Chaos Dwarfs. Tackle is going to be a killer as well as the Dwarf toughness. This game will be close if I can get the ball to a skaven player and manage the gauntlet. I like playing Steve for the endless humor of the moments. Regardless this game should be good times. I hope to have Tentacles on the Warpstone Troll at this point or by the end of this game.

Sixth is Chaos. Paul has been talking about a ball handling team... lets hope its still in the works at this point. Regardless I will get bashed around not much i can do about it here I'm marginally faster and have skills for the running and throwing game in place. It could go either way. Also very much looking forward to this game.

Seventh is Orcs. I predict a win for me but it will be close and I will have 5 guys on the field by the end.... making me wonder if I really did in fact win.

Eighth is High Elves. This will likely end in a score of 4 to 2 for the elves. I foresee a loss here. I've played a lot of elf teams and I never seem to do well against the High Elves.

Ninth is Dark Elves. I will say 3-2 for the Delves and many losses on both sides. God help me if he's got assassins.

Game Ten is against the Chaos Pact. Another team I wish to develop in the future. I have a feeling as long as the marauders are not to developed I can pull out the win here. The Gobo, Delf and Skaven don't really hold much threat for me. The 3 Big Guys however will be pounding me to hell.

I am predicting a 4W-2T-4L for this season. Better than that and I'll be ecstatic, less than that and I'll likely bring in a new team for the next season.

What do you think?

The Underbowl Experience

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you that showed for the Underbowl it was a lot of fun. Sadly I didn't stick around for the end I had a BBQ to go to.

The Green River Killers was my first match up of the day and the game was a blast! Both Steve and Mike had great enthusiasm and it made me appreciate my game much more than I normally do. If not for 2 blitz events in my favor it would have been the Killers day for sure. In the last few turns of the game Mike started to roll the dice and guys started flying off the pitch! I skilled up with 3 players which made it more interesting for my next match. My all time favorite moment in the game was Steve running a Goblin down the field and going for it. He wanted the extra distance and fell over dead from a cardiac arrest. The turn after that he managed to get a gobo on the ball again and get within 1 square of the endzone with Sidestep. He had very little trouble scoring after that. Score Hydra Lords 4 Green River Killers 2.

My second game of the day was against  Dominic and the Elves from the Hood. I was not sure how to play against his elves and it turned out I didn't need to worry. My dice made the decision for me:) Assassins were breaking armour on just about everything and the rest of the team were checking out the High Elf cheerleaders for phone numbers. Dice on both sides were either 1,2 or 5,6... 3 and 4 took the day off. I managed to score a touchdown off of a fumble which was the only one I could get. I had 3 Dirty Trick cards Witches Brew which ended up being the most effective, Exploding Runes which was fun but not game breaking, and Stolen Playbook which I later realized was my own playbook. In the end no skills for me but the Elves from the Hood got another ST4 roided elf bring the total number to 4, big beefy elves now with even tinier balls. Final Score Elves from the Hood 4 Hydra Lords 1

By the end I had decided to retire the assassins and buy a reroll. Sadly I am not so excited about the team and will be starting a new team come August. See you at Spike!

Painting Sucks when...

Painting Sucks when...

1) You decide to try something new and get it right the first time. Then you decide "Hey I need to bring those colors together a bit", so you apply wash. Then you wash out the awesome blending you just did and turn it into solid gold ass!

2) You paint some models for a friend and then you paint some for yourself. Then you realize the job you did for your friend was better than the one you did for yourself.

3) You finish paint a miniature and then drop it on the floor.... then the cat attacks it like its a ball of Catnip.

4) You think the model you just painted is highlighted with the proper colors, then you take it into normal light and see that in fact the job you just did can only be seen under Film Crew Lighting.

BloodBowl Projects

I've already got another Blog going for my miniature painting and other stuff. I just started it a few weeks ago and there is not much to speak of. I do have 3 entries with what I'm working on for a friend and for myself. I'll be updating it as I lay paint on them or add green stuff. I'm not sure how people feel about post pics here so I'll just leave it for the other blog and post the link here. Feel free to take a look and to comment.
